When I entered the center this week, one of the staff asked amicably, “What project are we doing today?”. I was happy to see that they were excited to have me there. I had many ideas for this week’s art activity, but I settled on a creative yet challenging activity to engage the elderlies. This art project requires the participants to trace the fish onto their paper and decorate it with lines and shapes. By asking them to make their own designs, the participants are required to exercise their creative abilities. Tracing the fish design corresponds to hand-eye coordination, which is similar to the task in the “line tracing” test.
I made one at home, so the participants could have an example to model after. Here is the fish folded:

And here is the fish unfolded:

The participants completed the project with more creativity than I had expected, since some of them struggled with decorating the 3D hand last week.

I personally really enjoyed creating this project with the participants. Although it involved tracing lines and coloring, it was an upgrade from the 3D hand project since it also required designing skills and the physical ability to fold. I love the finished projects!
From the results that I collected, I found that most of the participants are adept at color classification and line tracing; however, some of them found it difficult to do the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test. I will release all of the testing results after doing the second round of testing. Therefore, analysis will also be conducted after all of the testing.
